This
megaphone is preferred by most of the college
sailing teams we've talked with. What is the
recommendation of a college sailing team
worth? Consider the fact that the coaches zip
around in small motor boats with spray flying
everywhere and the megaphone in the bilge.
Sailing team megaphones spend most of their
lives at under two feet above sea level - and
yes, they will quit working once they venture
below sea level. If your megaphone goes
swimming in fresh water dry it out as fast as
possible. If your megaphone was more
adventuresome and took a dip in salt water
you have to make a choice between two evils:
dry it out and let the salt remain and speed
the corrosion of the circuit board or dunk it
in fresh water (after removing the batteries)
to remove the salt and then dry it out.
Unless the megaphone spent an extended time
in the water we opt for the first evil. No
matter what, this megaphone seems to last
better and that's why it's more expensive. --
